Who Are We

Northern Oaks Bird & Animal Hospital and Heritage Oaks Animal Hospital are successful, locally-owned, locally-managed practices focused on the comprehensive and compassionate care of our patients and their families. We offer 30-minute appointment times in order to focus on the needs of our patients and clients, as well as benefit the doctors and staff. Our goal is to have both healthy patients and healthy doctors. Compassion fatigue and toxic stress are real and present dangers in this profession, and we endeavor to combat them at our practice in many ways, including a negotiable salary, generous benefits and a family friendly atmosphere. We have state-of-the-art small and exotic animal veterinary hospitals in the north east suburban area of San Antonio, Texas, just minutes from the hill country and Guadalupe River. Our spacious, remodeled 3,300 square foot and new 4,000 square foot paperless practices are well-equipped, and our fantastic locations, mid-affluent clients, friendly work environment and great support staff, including LVTs, multiple assistants and a high staff-to-doctor ratio, enable our dedication to the highest levels of patient care and client relationships. Our practice caseload is diverse ranging from dogs, cats and rabbits to bearded dragons, chickens and macaws. We are a Cat Friendly practice with a low stress handling approach. Internal medicine, preventative medicine, soft tissue surgery and dentistry are our practice’s major focus. We complement this with extensive Class IV Cold Laser Photobiomodulation Therapy and an acupuncture certified doctor.

Northern Oaks Bird & Animal Hospital and Heritage Oaks Animal Hospital are proud to be privately owned multi doctor practices with family flexibility, yet the benefits of a larger business. Our equipment is cutting edge, well-maintained and includes monitors, Hot Dog patient warming systems, digital radiology, dental radiology, ultrasound, two Class IV Cold Therapeutic Lasers, Abaxis in house labs and a digitized Avimark record-keeping system. We are supported by VMG and AAHA tools to help further our needs and have a deep commitment to continuing education.

The ideal candidate possesses very strong client relationship and communication skills and has an excellent attitude. Our generous compensation and benefits package includes:

  • Compensation salary of $110,000+ for new veterinarian
  • Extremely negotiable for experienced veterinarians up to $210,000, pending performance and experience level
